HYPOTHETICAL

If someone was "let go" from their job, what would be a good way of including that on someone's resume? I am assuming that the severity of said firing would have to be worded very carefully. It's obviously not something that can be omitted should a potential employer contact a past employer.

I guess just came up with your own reason for being dismissed and how you would spin it.

I am just wondering.

I wouldnt say how the job ended unless directly asked. Then, you could spin it however you want. It's gaps in employment many employers are curious about.

Yea... there is no reason or need to put on a resume why you left a job.

Just be prepared to be asked about it.

OK, so let's say instead of being "let go", you could just say you wanted a "change in direction" and that's why you left?

Spin it however you want. Unless you put them as a reference, a prospective employer legally can only ask them whether or not you worked there and when you worked there. That's if they even call. Did you kill Geoffrey or something?

Well that is the only job I've had for the last 6 years so I have to list it. I didn't work while at school. I did not know they could not legally ask that stuff though, that is good to know. I wouldn't list them as a reference. I got some coworkers I could list as references instead.

I made some bad judgment calls. It was my fault, I took responsibility for them.

That's exactly how you spin it then, it was a learning experience, and you are unlikely to make the same error again.
